A shuttle service for hikers!
Its a walkers paradise here, there are so many options.
Hiking routes take you in a loop, out-and-back, and point-to-point, and vary in level of difficulty. There really is something for everyone, and we highly recommend visiting the Sibillini National Park, even if you're not into hiking.
The cost: Due to the winding and uneven roads that are found in and around the National Park and reserves, the cost of private transport for hikers/hiking routes costs 1€ per km.
Groups: If you're traveling in a group and would like someone to lead the way there are lots of great environmental tour guides that can be booked in advance for your personalised day out.
Independent hikers: Environmental guides run weekly events too, so if you're traveling by yourself or in a couple, booking one of their organised excursions is another option. Send us your enquiry or check our Facebook page for information on guided tours of le Marche's National Parks and landmarks (@transportdaytripper) and we'll put you in direct contact with the guides.
Advanced independent hikers: For advanced walkers or walkers familiar with the geography and landscape there are many routes you can do on your own in le Marche too.
Here are some examples of established routes:
- Cammino Francescano della marca (Assisi, Umbria - Ascoli Piceno, Marche)
Here Umbria and Marche are united under the name of San Francesco: the signposted pathway from Assisi to Ascoli totals 167 km. It's full of nature, history and panoramic views: https://www.camminofrancescanodellamarca.it- Grande Anello di Arquata (Arquata del Tronto, Ascoli Piceno)
Through the recovery of historical walking paths a non-profit Social Promotion Association based in Arquata del Tronto demonstrated its ability to revive the area and cleared a pathway of 50kms, that can be broken down in to various sections, creating an 'anello', or circle in which people can enjoy on foot or mountain bike: https://www.arquatapotest.it/camminarquata/
- Grande Anello dei Sibillini (covering multiple municipalities in the Sibillini National Park)
A circular route around the Sibillini National Park whose eight sections can be broken down depending on your time frame and fitness level: http://www.sibillini.net/chiedi_sibilla/sentieri/g...
- Grande Anello dei Borghi Ascolani (covering multiple municipalities in rural Ascoli)
Another great initiative put in place; this circle is a combination of nature, exercise, history, breathtaking landscapes and ancient traditions. The 100 km long journey through the magnificent hilltop villages at the foot of the Ceresa mountain range and the Gemelli Mountains has been broken down into seven sections ranging from 10.5 kms to 19 kms: https://www.grandeanellodeiborghiascolani.it
Landmarks
We've highlighted peak times for the following landmarks. This is when there is a huge influx of visitors that descend on these somewhat fragile areas of natural beauty. Parking can be difficult during these times so we try to alleviate this by offering you transport there and back. Some of the municipalities provide public shuttles to these places, so we'll do our best to connect you to those services when possible:
- Castelluccio (Norcia, Umbria)
Peak time: Flowering season from end of May to the end of July. Castelluccio di Norcia has long been internationally recognized as the homeland of outdoor sports, the number of activities that take place in Castelluccio is incredible. Castelluccio has become a point of reference for hikers, hang gliders, cyclists, bird-watching, trekking and horse riding: https://www.castellucciodinorcia.it/sibillini-atti...
We think it's time to provide a platform that connects people living in rural Marche - not to one another, but to the experts and professionals that know how to get the best out of what their region offers. We want to achieve this through the supply of a private transport service that is guided by knowledgeable drivers and transport specialists working in and around these communities. There are multiple advantages for both local businesses and our passengers. Together we want to help protect popular landmarks by offering shuttle services that reduce our impact on the environment, day trips that connect you to registered tour guides and Italian industry experts, and transparent pricing so you know what to expect.
