Recanati is the most poetic village in Marche, maybe in all of Italy. Protected by ancient walls and hills that inspired Giacomo Leopardi, Recanati flourished in the XII century.

Today the Civic Museum -Villa Colloredo Mels - preserves an extraordinary corpus of works by Lorenzo Lotto: from the San Domenico polyptych, the young painter's first work in Marche, to The Transfiguration of Christ, Saint James the Pilgrim and his masterpiece: the Annunciation, perhaps Lorenzo Lotto's most famous picture, which depicts the unfolding of the miraculous event exactly as it takes place.

Loreto

We love this painting at Loreto. In fact, the town of Loreto is home to nine of Lotto's works, the one featured is housed in the famous Basilica della Santa Casa. The other eight works are preserved inside the adjacent Museo Pontificio Santa Casa.

And with its unmistakable silhouette and majestic Apostolic Palace, this town is simply eye-catching.
